Venerable Phra Ajahn Sao Kantasilo Mahathera (1861-1942) was a monk in the Thai Buddhist forest tradition.
He was a member of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya. Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta Mahathera was one of his most famous disciples. The two were known to travel together frequently, wandering through the forests of Thailand in the “tudong” tradition of monks leaving the more sedentary monastic life behind and taking on many (if not all) of the thirteen dhutanga (ascetic) practices allowed by the Buddha in the Pali canon.
After his cremation, his bone fragments were distributed to people in the Thai provinces. According to his followers they changed into crystalline relics (sarira-dhatu) in various shades.
